Throughout the year, he serves as the state's Panchayat and Rural Development minister. His time is spent in countless activities: reviewing files, attending meetings, fulfilling party responsibilities. But Christmas is different.

Wearing Santa's outfit, with a white beard on his face and the familiar red cap on his head.

On Thursday, State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Pradip Majumdar was seen in a completely different avatar. That morning, the minister left his Steel Township home dressed as Santa.

He first went to the Taltala slum near his house. There, he spent considerable time with the children. He himself became 'Santa' and handed out cakes, chocolates and toys to the children. Finding the minister as Santa brought broad smiles to the children's faces.

That day, the minister's car drove through the road in front of the slum, honking its horn. Many came forward out of curiosity. Inside the car was the minister dressed as Santa. Resident Sheikh Nizamuddin said, "We couldn't even recognise Minister Pradip Majumdar. He gave gifts to the children. It felt very good."

From Taltala slum, the minister went to Kanishka Road in Steel Township. There, he joined a program organised by an organisation. Multiple events were scheduled to take place there throughout the day. Pradip Majumdar said, "It feels extremely good to spend this day with children. I want them to grow up healthy. Religion belongs to each individual, but festivals belong to everyone."
