The Indian cricket team is currently undergoing significant changes, and it raised questions about veteran players and the appointment of a new captain. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has urged players to take domestic cricket more seriously. In response, stalwart players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have delivered consecutive centuries. Meanwhile, players who have been sitting on the bench are starting to make a case for themselves with outstanding performances.

Ishan Kishan, who has already got a call-up in the T20I setup, is now also seeking a place in the ODI setup.

Ishan Kishan scored a cracking century in VHT in just 33 balls, on the first day of the tournament and with that, a buzz has sparked all over the internet. Will Ishan Kishan get a spot in the ODI setup also?

How Ishan Kishan can earn a spot in One-Day internationals?

After a blistering performance in the SMAT 2025, Ishan Kishan started the 50-over domestic tournament with a blast, scoring 125 runs in just 39 balls, packed with 14 sixes and seven fours. This blistering knock came while batting at number six against Karnataka. The Jharkhand wicket-keeper batter, who recently got a call-up in the T20I set up, can also break into the ODI squad as Rishab Pant, who has stayed with the team as a backup keeper, remained unable to score runs in the middle recently. He also faced problems playing the white ball format, which could come out as a benefit for Ishan Kishan, who is in a red-hot form, can provide flexibility in batting order and also can do the job behind the wicket flawlessly.

If Rishab Pant remains a question for the team and the management wants to look beyond Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, then Ishan Kishan will get the benefit definitely.

Adding star value to the day, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma marked their domestic returns in style, scoring commanding centuries. Their performances reinforced experience and class, making the tournament’s start a perfect blend of records, resilience, and marquee brilliance.
