As per a report of OneIndia, yesterday, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, claimed fresh allegations of corruption in the recent teacher recruitment exams. He claims that a jailed Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA has been collecting bribes for School Service Commission (SSC) appointments from inside prison. These exams were held in September after the Supreme Court scrapped SSC’s 2016 panel over a tainted selection process.

Addressing the media at the BJP office in Nandigram, Adhikari presented an audio clip that he says features the voice of the imprisoned TMC legislator. In the clip, the voice allegedly instructs candidates to pay money to clear the exams. Though the authenticity of the audio could not be independently verified.

Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari also held a press conference on 17 November, raising concern over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal and alleged lapse in the SIR procedure.

During the press conference at 6 Muralidhar Sen Lane, Suvendu Adhikari said that earlier this year, the Election Commission of India (ECI) carried out the SIR in Bihar, where the process faced resistance from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties. According to Adhikari, the opposition tried to protect deceased and migrant voters to secure their strategic votebank and influence the election outcome.

He also referred to the Trinamool Congress as a close ally of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and criticised comments made by the ruling party’s leaders regarding the SIR in West Bengal. Adhikari condemned Mamata Banerjee’s rally from Red Road to Jorasanko, calling it a protest aimed at misleading the public about the SIR.
