Fresh from a decisive electoral victory in Falakata and now inducted into the expanded West Bengal Cabinet, BJP leader Dipak Barman has outlined his broad vision for governance, transparency and public welfare.

Speaking to News Ei Samay, Barman said transparency, good governance and effective delivery of government services would remain central to his approach as a minister.

Transparency and good governance at the core

When asked about the issue that concerns him the most as a minister, Barman pointed to what he described as a long-standing culture of corruption in the state.

"For a long time in West Bengal, a corrupt system functioned from top to bottom. Especially during the previous Trinamool government, allegations of corruption emerged in various sectors. Therefore, I believe it is extremely important to establish transparency and good governance in every field," he explained.

Barman added that regardless of the portfolio assigned to him, he would carry out his responsibilities "with dedication and honesty" and focus on public welfare and development.

People first in the first 100 days

When asked about the first three decisions he plans to take within his first 100 days, Barman said the course of action would depend on the department entrusted to him. However, he stressed that public interest would remain his guiding principle.

"Whatever responsibility is given to me, I will always place the interests of the people above everything else. From the people of North Bengal to the citizens across the entire state, I will take every necessary step that serves the greater welfare of the people of West Bengal," he said.

Public benefit will define success in office

For Barman, success as a minister will ultimately be measured by how effectively government services reach ordinary citizens.

"If the services of the government reach the common people properly and they truly benefit from them, I will consider that my greatest success," the minister said, outlining how he would measure success in office.
