Nancy Grewal, a 45-year-old Indian-origin social media influencer from Narang village in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, was stabbed 18 times to death in LaSalle town near Windsor, Canada, on Tuesday evening. Her family said that Grewal was attacked outside a residence while visiting a patient, where unidentified assailants allegedly ambushed her.
Grewal was active on social media and known for speaking openly about issues affecting the community. Apart from her online presence, she worked as a nurse and was employed with two companies, often working long shifts. Her family said she had not posted videos online for the past three months, as she was focusing on her work. “She stood by the truth and refused to apologise despite pressure,” her mother said, adding that the disagreement later escalated into hostility.
Mother alleges brutal attack and earlier threats
Shinder Pal Grewal, Nancy Grewal’s mother, alleged that the attackers stabbed her daughter 18 times in the stomach and claimed the assault took place in an area without CCTV cameras. She also alleged that Grewal’s tongue had been chopped off during the attack. Her mother also said that Nancy had received death threats in the past and had reported them to the police. The family also claimed that her house had been set on fire about two months earlier and that a complaint regarding the incident had been filed.

Disputes and safety concerns before death
An old video of Nancy Grewal has again resurfaced on social media following her death, in which she said she no longer felt safe in her LaSalle home after an arson attack in November 2025. In the video, she alleged that a man had poured gasoline on her front door and set it on fire. Her mother further claimed that Grewal had disputes with certain individuals who were linked to a gurdwara on County Road, and she raised concerns about rations allegedly being stolen and helped install cameras there.
