US President Donald Trump walked out of an interview with NBC News anchor Kristen Welker after the conversation turned tense over his claims about election integrity, ending the exchange by removing his microphone and leaving the set.
The interview, conducted in Wisconsin and aired on Meet the Press on Sunday, also touched on the war in Iran, interest rates and a proposed $1.776 billion fund to compensate Jan. 6 defendants.

Where the cordiality began to fray
The clash escalated when Welker pressed Trump to provide evidence for his assertion that the 2020 election was rigged.
Trump responded, “All I have to do is look,” before turning the attack on Welker and the network. He told her, “I’m not crooked,” after she rejected his accusation, and later said, “I’ve had enough,” as the exchange deteriorated further.

The press finds itself in the dock
Trump also broadened his criticism beyond Welker, accusing major television networks of bias and repeating his claim that election systems are being manipulated.
When Welker reminded him that she had travelled to Wisconsin for the sit-down, Trump replied, “A country can never be great with a dishonest press,” before ending the interview and walking off camera.
Trump appeared visibly agitated as the discussion stayed focused on his election claims.

Health reports enter the conversation
The walkout has drawn renewed attention because it comes against the backdrop of a White House medical report released last month that described Trump as being in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief.
Trump underwent comprehensive testing at Walter Reed, including CT scans, heart imaging, cancer screenings and evaluations by 22 specialists. The report said his demanding schedule continued to support his overall well-being.
