The gunman involved in the shooting at Brown University in America remains at large even after more than 24 hours. Earlier, a person was detained after matching video footage, but investigators released him after realising the mistake. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley has also confirmed that the detained person has been released. The search for the main suspect continues.

On Saturday (December 13), an attack was carried out by a gunman during final exams at Brown University's Engineering and Physics Building. Two students were killed, and nine were injured in the gunman's indiscriminate firing. Deputy Chief of Police Timothy O’Hara said the suspected male was wearing black clothing. After carrying out the attack, the suspect was last seen leaving the engineering building. Police department has also released the video.
This is not the first incident of arresting the wrong person. Immediately after releasing the video footage, the FBI had detained a person on suspicion of involvement in the shooting incident. He was later released after evidence proved his innocence. Police are searching for the main suspect. Fear still spreads across the campus.

According to the university's website, the building where the attack occurred has more than 100 labs, dozens of classrooms and offices. An engineering design exam was underway when the shooting took place. Chiangheng Chien, a doctoral student in the engineering department who was about a block away from the scene, said that after receiving news of the gunfire, students in a nearby lab hid under desks and turned off the lights. Mary Kamara, a 20-year-old junior from New York City, was leaving the library and ran into a taqueria for shelter. She stayed there for three hours.
