India in talks with Canadian firms for LPG amid supply crunch
India is in talks with Canadian companies to buy liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as the crisis in West Asia affects the supply of this cooking fuel. Discussions are ongoing with two Canadian firms. There is a good chance that the first shipments of Canadian LPG to India will leave from Vancouver port next month, or at the latest, in May, according to a senior Indian official who spoke to Hindustan Times.
The official called the talks "immediate" and noted they are focused on "offtake agreements". The companies involved, Calgary-based AltaGas and Pembina Pipeline, are in discussions with the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
