The Indian envoy in Bangladesh was summoned by the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka over concerns regarding the security of Bangladesh's missions in India. This summons comes after protestors held demonstrations outside the Bangladeshi missions in New Delhi and Siliguri, Hindustan Times reported. Notably, the Bangladeshi High Commissioner was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New Delhi after protests spread across the nation following the death of 'Inquilab Mancha' spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, in which major media offices were torched, cultural institutions were ransacked, and a Hindu man named Dipu Chandra Das was lynched and set ablaze in Mymensingh. The protests turned majorly anti-India, as demonstrations were held outside Indian missions in Bangladesh, raising concerns about the security of the missions.
Protests outside Bangladesh High Commission

Demonstrators breached barricades, and the police subsequently lathi-charged to control the crowd of protestors.

India-Bangladesh relations tanked
The relations between India and Bangladesh have been sliding ever since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has been given political refuge in India. Bangladesh has time and again demanded that Hasina be handed over to them, and even given her a death penalty. But, Indian authorities have not paid heed to any of Bangladesh's claims.

The Indian envoy was summoned by Bangladesh over claims of vandalism at the Bangladesh Visa Centre in Siliguri on December 22, and for a demonstration outside the Bangladesh High Commission on December 20 in New Delhi, Hindustan Times reported.
India on Sunday strongly dismissed what it described as "misleading propaganda" carried by sections of the Bangladeshi media about the protest held outside the Bangladesh High Commission over the "horrendous killing" of Hindu youth Dipu Das. The government clarified that the demonstration was short-lived, peaceful, and posed no threat to security.
