The Indian embassy in Tehran has issued a new advisory for all Indian nationals residing in Iran due to ongoing demonstrations across multiple regions. This advisory was released as a result of a deteriorating security environment.
In continuation of an earlier notice provided by the Embassy of India on January 5, 2025, it has now suggested that all Indian citizens within Iran should depart the country if they are able to do so. This includes students, pilgrims, business people and tourists. The Embassy stated that the people can "leave by available means of transport", including the use of commercial airline services.
'Keep your documents easily accessible'
Urging Indian nationals in Iran to keep their immigration and travel documents easily accessible, the advisory said, "All Indian nationals in Iran are requested to also have their travel and immigration documents, including passports and IDs, readily available with them. They are requested to contact the Indian Embassy for any assistance in this regard."
Embassy shares helplines
Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), according to the embassy, must exercise caution and avoid places where protests are being held and rely on the local media to keep up with events and stay in regular contact with the mission. For those in need of assistance, the embassy has provided multiple emergency helplines and an official e-mail to reach the consulate for support.
"The emergency contact helplines of the Indian Embassy are provided below: Mobile Numbers: +989128109115; +989128109109; +989128109102; +989932179359. Email: cons.tehran@mea.gov.in," the embassy said.

Apart from this, the embassy has also asked all Indian nationals in Iran to register with the Indian embassy, in case they have not already done so, using the link: https://www.meaers.com/request/home.
"The link is also available on the Embassy website. In case any Indian national is unable to register due to internet disruptions in Iran, their families in India are requested to do so," the embassy added.
