The stage is set for a new term in Assam as BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as Chief Minister for the second consecutive time on Tuesday following the NDA’s emphatic victory in the Assembly elections. Alongside Sarma, four other leaders from the NDA alliance also joined the new ministry.
The ministers-designate include two BJP leaders, one representative each from alliance partners Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

Teli’s political journey spans both the state Assembly and Parliament. After spending nearly a decade in the Assam Assembly and another ten years in the Lok Sabha, he was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2024.
He has now returned to state politics after winning the Duliajan Assembly constituency, a seat he had represented earlier between 2001 and 2011.

NDA allies get representation
The NDA allies have also secured representation in the new cabinet formation. AGP president Atul Bora took oath as minister, continuing the regional party’s presence in the Assam government. Bora has remained a significant ally of the BJP in the state’s political landscape over the years.
