Six seats, longer range—Tesla Model Y L hits India market

Tesla has launched the Model Y L six-seater variant in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹61.99 lakh, expanding its premium EV lineup.

Tesla Model Y has introduced a new six-seater variant in India, expanding its existing lineup with a more spacious configuration. The new model, called the Model Y L, has been launched at an ex-showroom price of ₹61.99 lakh.

The launch adds a larger, family-oriented option to Tesla’s India portfolio, which already includes the standard Model Y variants. The new version is positioned between the existing trims in terms of pricing and features.

Six-seater layout and design updates.

The Model Y L brings a three-row, six-seat layout, replacing the standard bench setup with captain seats in the second row. According to reports, the cabin follows a 2+2+2 seating arrangement, designed to improve comfort and space distribution.

The vehicle also features an extended wheelbase compared to the standard Model Y, offering more interior room and a more practical setup for families. The added space is one of the key changes introduced with this variant.

Performance and technical features

The Model Y L comes with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, marking a shift from earlier rear-wheel-drive versions available in India. It is claimed to deliver strong performance along with improved traction.

As per specifications, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around 5 seconds, with a top speed of about 201 kmph. The claimed range stands at up to 681 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

Features and market position

Inside the cabin, the Model Y L includes upgraded seating comfort with features such as captain seats in the second row and improved space usability across all three rows. The SUV also offers expanded cargo capacity compared to the standard model.

The launch comes as Tesla continues to build its presence in India’s premium EV segment, where pricing and import duties place its vehicles in the luxury category.
