KTM India has expanded its popular streetfighter lineup with the launch of a new 350cc version of the KTM 390 Duke, priced at Rs. 2.77 lakh. The move positions the motorcycle as a more accessible alternative to the existing 399cc model, now branded with an ‘R’ suffix, which continues to be sold alongside it. The pricing advantage comes primarily from the revised engine capacity, allowing the new variant to fall under a lower GST bracket, making it significantly more affordable for buyers looking to enter the performance segment.

Engine tweaks bring down performance and cost

The most notable change lies in the engine, which has been downsized by shortening the stroke while retaining the same bore size. This results in a 350cc displacement that produces 40.9bhp and 33.5Nm, compared to the higher output figures of the 399cc version. While the drop in power and torque is evident on paper, the new setup is expected to offer a more manageable and user friendly riding experience, especially for those upgrading from smaller capacity motorcycles. The marginal reduction in kerb weight further contributes to ease of handling.

Improved accessibility for a wider audience

One of the practical highlights of the new variant is its lower seat height of 800mm, which is 20mm less than the more powerful version. This change makes the motorcycle more approachable for shorter riders and those seeking better confidence in everyday riding conditions. Despite the engine changes, the overall design remains identical, retaining the aggressive styling that has defined the Duke range, along with refreshed colour treatments to distinguish it from its sibling.

Features remain consistent with premium positioning

KTM has retained the core hardware and features, ensuring the 350cc version does not feel like a stripped down offering. The motorcycle continues to ride on 17 inch wheels with WP suspension, while braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends supported by switchable dual channel ABS. A fully digital TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity adds to the premium feel, keeping the riding experience aligned with the expectations set by the Duke lineup.
