The delay led to an extended travel ordeal

According to the complaint, the family faced considerable hardship when their flight did not operate as scheduled. The disruption reportedly caused them to remain stranded and led to substantial delays in reaching their destination.

The passengers argued that the situation resulted in additional expenses, inconvenience and emotional distress. They approached the consumer forum seeking compensation for the losses and difficulties they experienced during the journey.

The commission reviewed documents and submissions presented by both parties before arriving at its decision.

Commission finds deficiency in service

Reportedly, after examining the matter, the consumer commission concluded that service had been deficient on the part of the airline.

The order directed Air India to compensate the family with a total amount of Rs 91,000. The compensation was intended to address the inconvenience and hardship caused by the disruption to the passengers' travel plans.

Relief for affected passengers

Consumer courts and commissions frequently hear cases involving flight cancellations, delays and travel-related grievances. Such forums provide passengers with a mechanism to seek redress when they believe airline services have fallen short of expected standards.

In this case, the commission determined that the family's complaint warranted compensation after considering the impact the delay had on their journey.
