The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final result of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. The results were announced on Friday, bringing relief and excitement to aspirants who had been awaiting the outcome of one of India's most competitive examinations.
A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and other Central Services under Group 'A' and Group 'B'.
The final merit list has been prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination conducted in August 2025 and the personality test held between December 2025 and February 2026.

Category-wise distribution of selected candidates
Among the 958 successful candidates, 317 belong to the General category, 104 to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 306 to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 73 to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category.
The overall category-wise breakdown of recommended candidates stands as follows: General: 347, EWS: 115, OBC: 303, SC: 165 and ST: 86.

Selection process and reserve list
The Commission has also maintained a Reserve List of 240 candidates to meet any contingency in the appointment process.
The UPSC Civil Services Main examination result had earlier been declared in November 2025. The Main examination was conducted from August 22 to August 31, 2025.
Candidates who cleared the written stage were called for the Personality Test (Interview), which took place between December 2025 and January 2026 in two phases.
UPSC is also expected to upload the marks of all candidates, both successful and unsuccessful, within 15 days of the result declaration on its official website.
