The Registry of the Supreme Court of India has invited online applications for the post of Assistant Editor, offering an opportunity for legal professionals with relevant experience to work within the country’s highest judicial institution.
According to an official notification, the recruitment drive aims to fill five Assistant Editor positions in the Supreme Court Registry. The selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level 12 of the Pay Matrix, with an initial basic pay of ₹78,800 per month, along with other allowances as per the applicable rules.

Applicants must fall within the age group of 30 to 40 years, as specified in the recruitment notice. The last date to submit online applications is March 8, 2026.
Eligibility criteria and professional experience required
Candidates applying for the Assistant Editor post must meet specific educational and professional requirements. Applicants must possess a law degree from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India or a State Bar Council for enrolment as an advocate. Alternatively, candidates may also be eligible if they are members of the English Bar or an Attorney of a High Court within India.
In addition to the educational qualification, applicants must also demonstrate knowledge of computer operations. The notification states that candidates must have at least three years of professional experience in one of the following roles: Continuous legal practice as an advocate in any High Court or the Supreme Court.
Service in a judicial post
Legal research experience in a recognised university, the Indian Law Institute, or a similar institution
Work as a law reporter or editorial staff member of reputed legal reports or journals. Teaching experience as a lecturer in law at a recognised university. Candidates who have served seven years in government service, including at least four years in a Class-II gazetted post in the Supreme Court or High Court, are also eligible to apply.
