The Chandigarh administration sealed Sago on Tuesday, a popular nightclub owned by rapper and singer Badshah in Sector 26, as part of an ongoing drive against commercial establishments found violating building regulations.
Sealing of the nightclub
In an interview with The Indian Express, Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav said, “We have sealed the club Sago following multiple building violations”, confirming the action. He added, “Despite being granted considerable time and multiple opportunities to rectify or regularise the violations, the occupants allegedly failed to comply with the directions of the Estate Office.”
According to a notice issued by the deputy commissioner-cum-estate officer, proceedings were initiated under Rule 14 and Rule 10 of the Chandigarh Estate Rules 2007, read with Section 8A of the Punjab (Development and Regulation) Act 1952, following the detection of several building violations at the premises, reported The Indian Express.

The administration stated that a showcause notice had been served to the club’s occupants on April 25, 2024, after inspections uncovered extensive unauthorised alterations across different sections of the property. Per The Indian Express, officials reported violations in the basement, ground floor and second floor, including the unauthorised construction of cabins and partitions, toilets, a kitchen and a cold store.
Inspection teams also found that open courtyards had been covered using mild steel structures and fibre sheets. In addition, authorities detected changes to the approved planning and layout, construction of tin sheds and storage areas, alterations to the rear elevation and several other deviations from the sanctioned building plan.
Officials said the sealing operation was carried out peacefully and that the premises have been secured to prevent any further unauthorised use until further orders are issued by the competent authority.

Previous bomb scare in the club
The nightclub had previously attracted attention in 2024 following a bomb scare. Two explosions were reported outside Badshah’s clubs in Chandigarh, with CCTV footage allegedly showing a man throwing suspected crude bombs at the establishments before fleeing. In the subsequent investigation, Delhi Police arrested Deepak, a resident of Faridkot in Punjab, who was reportedly in constant contact with gangster Goldy Brar.

Authorities have reiterated that compliance with safety norms and building regulations is mandatory for all businesses and indicated that similar action could be taken against other establishments found violating the rules.
