Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi have shared details of their unusual love story that surprised fans when they secretly got married in a gurudwara ceremony in 2018. They had not publicly confirmed their relationship before marriage. Just six months later, they welcomed their daughter Mehr, which led to many speculations.

What was Angad’s long pursuit and first impression on Neha?
As per the Indian Express report, about his first impression, he said, “When I saw her for the first time, I thought she was very beautiful. She was running on a treadmill and I was standing behind, just watching and thinking, what amazing form. I fell in love with her running form. I was like, she’s an athlete.”
Neha said she was very focused on her career at that time. She said, “I used to think I have to wake up, exercise, go to work—my entire focus was on work.” She added that although she met interesting people, relationships were never her priority then.
Angad Bedi said, “I was after Neha for 8 years. I kept going after her all that time, but she never said yes, she was very busy.” Recalling their first meeting, he added, “I fell in love with her running form. I was like, she’s an athlete.” He also shared how he even spent time with her family but still remained outside her close circle for years.
How did Angad try to get closer to Neha?
As per the Indian Express report, Angad tried to get closer by working with her in a film. He said, “She asked me to do a film with her and said there would be no narration—just show up. I went. I spent time with her on set, but her mother was also there. I ended up spending a lot of time with her mom. I thought, if her mother is so nice, she must be nice too,” he recalled.
Still, things did not move forward. He added that many people were around her and he was not in her close attention. He also shared that even her parents were okay with him, but she did not agree for a long time and kept him away for years.

As per the Indian Express report, the turning point came with Neha’s pregnancy. She said, “I want to say thank God we got pregnant, she is the blessing that brought the love story.” She added, “It was our daughter who got us together because we were pregnant, we were like just do it. The whole universe came together first for him, then for me, then for us.” This moment brought clarity and eventually led them to marriage.
Angad said this in a joking way, explaining that he comes after many other priorities in Neha’s life, like kids, work, parents, and home.
Neha responded with a smile, saying that family is her first priority, followed by work, and then everything else, including Angad.

She added that while she could not invite Soha to the wedding, she was among the first people to know about her pregnancy.
Neha further explained that her relationship with Angad was still very new at that time. She said, “You are also like… not married, you barely dated the guy. This information, no matter how unorthodox or orthodox you are, it’s just easier to share it with your friends, and friends who have just had a baby as opposed to telling your parents. It’s a tough one to have.”
