Actor Dhanush recently talked about how people earlier made fun of his thin body, but now he is admired on screen. At a pre-release event, he shared an important phase of his career that changed how people saw him.
The big change came with Polladhavan, where his transformation surprised all his fans. His six-pack look made fans see him in a completely new way.
Now preparing for his new film Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja, he said that strong belief and hard work helped him overcome all the criticism.

How did Polladhavan bring a change in Dhanush's career
According to Hindustan Times, at a pre-release event, Dhanush spoke about his career and said he always believed in himself despite early mockery. When he was given the bike number plate from Polladhavan, he showed it to the audience and smiled.
Dhanush admitted that the film was a turning point in his career and said, “Polladhavan was a turning point for me… before that, people used to call me very thin. When I suddenly appeared with a six-pack, it was the first time that people clapped for my body. There were whistles. It was a special film for me.” The film, directed by Vetrimaaran, was highly appreciated and helped him grow as an actor.
How did Dhanush encourage his fans
Encouraging young fans, Dhanush said, “Ennam Pol Vazhkai, it is in the Bhagavad Gita, which means: 'What you think, you become'. We shouldn't be having any doubts about success; we should truly manifest it ourselves. All could have laughed around 2002-2003 if I had told them I would get a National Award. But I strongly manifested that I will win a national award one day. The time arrived.”
He later won accolades for Aadukalam and Asuran.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Dhanush won his first National Award for Best Actor for Aadukalam (2010). He won another for Asuran (2019). He also received awards for Kaaka Muttai (Best Children’s Film) and Visaranai (Best Feature Film in Tamil).
