A section of social media users has reacted sharply after Raghav Chadha moved from the Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The criticism has not remained limited to Chadha, as his wife, actor Parineeti Chopra, also found herself at the receiving end of online negativity.
Parineeti Chopra faces backlash online
The actor recently shared an Instagram Story, reposting an update about her becoming the brand ambassador of a parenting app based in Gurgaon. While the post had no connection to politics, several users flooded the comments with reactions tied to Chadha’s decision.
Among the responses were remarks like “Unfollow,” along with “thumbs down” emojis. One user commented, “Darpok,” while another wrote, “Kya acting ki hai aapke husband ne.” A separate comment read, “Hate both of you.” Some users even linked her professional opportunities to the political development, with one remark suggesting she secured a place in Dhurandhar 3 because of her husband’s move.

Reported drop in followers
Data from a social media tracking platform indicates that Parineeti Chopra lost over 4,600 Instagram followers on April 24. However, there is no confirmed link establishing that the decline was directly caused by the backlash related to Chadha’s political shift. The actor currently has around 42.9 million followers on the platform.

What Parineeti said about politics
In a recent interaction with journalist Rajat Sharma, both Parineeti and Raghav spoke about their personal approach to politics. The actor admitted she does not have a strong understanding of political matters and mentioned that discussions about politics or films are usually avoided at home.
Chadha, on his part, said that any decision about entering politics would be entirely Parineeti’s. He added, “Jiska kaam usi ko sajhe, aur kare to ullu lage.”
Upcoming project
Parineeti Chopra, who debuted in Bollywood with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl alongside Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, is now preparing for her digital debut. Her upcoming series Talaash: A Mother's Search is a mystery thriller set to release on Netflix. The project also features Jennifer Winget and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
