The United States remains at the top of the list as the leading country hosting ultra-rich people, whereas India is developing as a rising star in terms of wealth accumulation at the fastest pace, as revealed in the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2026.

According to the findings of the report, the United States hosts 251,352 ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), which denotes those whose net worth exceeds $30 million. China follows with 121,677 individuals, after which Germany, United Kingdom, and France rank among others.

US leads, global wealth pool expands

Knight Frank figures show a steep increase in global ultra-rich numbers. The global number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals rose from 551,435 in 2021 to 713,626 in 2026.

It is observed that a notable trend is seen wherein almost 89 persons are hitting the milestone of $30 million every day.

The USA is responsible for about 41 percent of the creation of ultra-rich people in the last five years, reaffirming its status as the major wealth hub. Even while witnessing an upward trend in the sheer numbers of the ultra-rich, China is losing ground and is falling behind in second place.

India’s rapid rise in global wealth rankings

India’s achievements are quite remarkable compared to other emerging nations. The number of ultra-wealthy Indians increased from slightly above 12,000 in 2021 to almost 20,000 in 2026.

Knight Frank describes India’s trajectory as “unmistakably upward,” which is due to growth in tech industry, entrepreneurship, and capital market. The forecast suggests that there would be 25,000 ultra-high-net-worth individuals in India by 2031.

Europe retains strong presence

Countries in Europe continue to occupy important positions in the global wealth rankings. Leading the region is Germany, followed by the United Kingdom and France, with Switzerland and Italy occupying positions within the top 10.
