Actor Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about the profound personal impact his upcoming film Ramayana has had on his life. The Bollywood star, who will portray Lord Rama in the ambitious mythological epic, revealed that working on the project transformed not only his perspective on life but also his role as a father to his daughter, Raha Kapoor.
Ranbir opens up about the role
In an interview with Top Magazine, Ranbir shared that he initially felt uncertain about taking on such an iconic and deeply respected character. The actor admitted that he questioned whether he was truly worthy of portraying Lord Rama on screen. However, as he spent more time understanding the story and the character’s journey, those doubts gradually evolved into gratitude and an emotional connection with the project.

Reflecting on the experience, Ranbir said, “I understood not that it would be something like a career-defining move for me, but it was definitely life-defining, you know, it changed my life. It got me closer to understanding the Ramayana, to understanding Lord Rama’s journey. I think it made so many positive changes in my life. You know, my bad habits changed, it changed my value system, the way I look at life, the way I look at loss, the way I look at sacrifice, the way I look at Dharma, and I think I really needed that in my life.”
Meaningful changes Ranbir made in his life
The actor also shared that the lessons he learned while preparing for the role positively influenced his personal life and helped him become more grounded. According to him, understanding the values associated with Lord Rama’s journey brought about meaningful changes in the way he approached relationships, responsibilities and parenthood.

Directed by filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is one of the most ambitious projects currently being made in Indian cinema. The film is backed by actor Yash and producer Namit Malhotra and boasts a massive reported budget of Rs. 4000 crore, making it among the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, the film stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The epic is planned as a two-part cinematic saga, with the first instalment scheduled for release during Diwali 2026 and the second part set to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2027.
