Delhi-NCR is once again witnessing a steady rise in temperatures as bright, sunny conditions dominate the skies. Occasional scattered clouds offer only brief moments of relief, doing little to ease the overall heat. Daytime temperatures are hovering close to 40C, making afternoons particularly uncomfortable. Nights, too, are getting warmer than usual, adding to the persistent dry and oppressive conditions across the region.

Light westerly winds, blowing at speeds between 5 and 15 km per hour, are playing a key role in maintaining the dry heat. These winds are preventing any significant cooling, keeping humidity levels low and the air harsh. As a result, residents are experiencing prolonged periods of discomfort, especially during peak daytime hours when the sun is at its strongest.

City-wise temperature trends

Temperature patterns remain largely consistent across Delhi-NCR, though slight variations are visible. Faridabad is expected to record the highest temperature among nearby areas, touching around 41C. Noida, Gurugram, and Delhi are also experiencing similar heat levels, with conditions remaining uniformly warm. In contrast, Greater Noida recorded a relatively cooler start to the day, with morning temperatures around 19C, though it is expected to warm up as the day progresses.

Weather change on the horizon

Recent western disturbances had briefly brought down temperatures with light rainfall and gusty winds, offering short-lived relief. However, their impact has now faded, allowing heat to build up again across the region. According to the Meteorological Department, a change in weather conditions may occur in the coming days. Despite this possibility, there is currently no immediate forecast of rainfall.

Even with rising temperatures and increasing discomfort, official heatwave conditions have not been declared so far.
