The family man series makers Raj & DK recently admitted that season 3's unexpected and sudden conclusion wasn't a fluke, it was really fully planned, they defined the ending of season 3 as "a midpoint pause", an intentional stop in the middle of a much an entirely different story they are creating. The sudden cut shocked and even upset a lot of fans, but the creator justified that this kind of response was just what they were hoping for.
