December 29 marks the birthday of Bollywood star and author Twinkle Khanna, who turned 51 on Monday. The day holds special significance as it also marks the 83rd birth anniversary of her father Rajesh Khanna.

On her birthday, here is a look at the actress' impressive education background along with 9 others who come from strong academic backgrounds:

Twinkle Khanna

For Twinkle, age is no barrier. At 50, she graduated from Goldsmith, University of London with a master's degree in Creative and Life Writing programme. Taking to Instagram, she shared her achievement with the caption, "In an homage to Master Raju, I can finally call myself Master Twinkle."

She completed her schooling from the New Era High School in Panchgani and the Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics from Mumbai University. She also tried to pursue entrance for Chartered Accountants but went into films instead.

Amitabh Bachchan

With his early education completed at St. Mary's Convent School in Allahabad, Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to the prestigious Sherwood College in Nainital. He then went to Delhi University's (DU) Kirori Mal College for a B.Sc degree. From Delhi, the star went to Kolkata where he worked as a business executive at Bird & Company, a shipping firm. He has also been the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Queensland University of Technology, Austria for his contribution to cinema.

Little known fact: Amitabh Bachchan was once rejected for his voice as a news announcer at All India Radio. However, his voice later became his greatest asset.

Shah Rukh Khan

The 'King of Bollywood' boasts of a strong academic background. Holding a bachelor's degree from DU's Hansraj College, Khan went on for a master's degree in mass communication from Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi. Shah Rukh Khan also has three international honorary doctorates in his name. The actor is also an avid book reader.

Soha Ali Khan

Soha Ali Khan comes from the Pataudi family and completed her schooling from The British School in Delhi after which she pursued modern history at Ballilol College, Oxford. She also has a mater's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Parineeti Chopra

Parineeta Chopra is a graduate with triple honours in business, finance and economics. She completed her schooling from the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Ambala and then went to England's Manchester Business School. In England, she worked part-time as a team leader in the Catering department at Manchester Business School and also as an orientation leader for international students.

She is multi-talented with training in Hindustani classical music as well. Before her entry into Bollywood, she wanted a career in investment banking.

John Abraham

After completing his schooling from Bombay Scottish School, John graduated from Jai Hind College with a degree in economics. Later, he pursued MBA from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.

Randeep Hooda

Randeep Hooda is holds degrees in marketing and business management. His education comprises degrees in sports, marketing and international experience. He went to Motilal Nehru School of Sports and DPS RK Puram. Later, he moved to Melbourne for degrees in marketing and business management.

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon finished her school from Delhi Public School, RK Puram. She then got herself a degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Jaypee Institute of Technology, Noida.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan has a graduation degree in sociology from St. Xavier's College in Mumbai. She also pursued masters from University of Mumbai.

Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan completed her graduation from a renowned university in New York in 2016 with a course in history and political science before venturing into films.
