The Kapoor Khandaan is famous for two things—cinema and an unshakeable devotion to food. Whether it’s Kareena Kapoor Khan discussing her next meal or Ranbir Kapoor sneaking in a cheat treat, the family’s foodie reputation is legendary. And every December, their grand Christmas brunch turns into a national talking point.
This year, actor-turned-chef Armaan Jain has decided to let the world pull up a chair with Dining With the Kapoors, a Netflix special celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor. Think iconic family lunch, nostalgia, and a whole lot of food.
But the internet had one burning question after the trailer dropped—why are Amitabh Bachchan’s grandchildren at a Kapoor family feast?

Turns out, it’s not a crossover episode. It’s just genealogy.
How are Bachchans related to Kapoors?
Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda are the children of Shweta Bachchan-Nanda and Nikhil Nanda. And Nikhil happens to be the son of Ritu Kapoor Nanda, daughter of Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor. That makes the young Nandas the great-grandchildren of Raj Kapoor. Essentially, Agastya and Navya sit on the same family tree branch as Karisma, Kareena, Ranbir, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Armaan and Aadar Jain. Which also makes them distant cousins of little Taimur Ali Khan, Jehangir Ali Khan and Raha Kapoor. Bollywood families: always complicated, never boring.

The second big question
Where was Ranbir’s wife and Kapoor bahu Alia Bhatt Kapoor? Armaan cleared that up in a chat with Bollywood Hungama, sharing that she couldn’t join because "She had prior commitments to shoot. I might sound filmy, but like Raj Kapoor said, ‘work is worship.’"
Fans may have missed her, but duty calls.
Dining With the Kapoors released on November 21 on Netflix, offering a seat at a table most people only dream of-served with a side of family history, star power and, of course, plenty of food.
