After the success of its debut edition, the ‘City of Joy’ is set to host another vibrant celebration of fandom as Kolkata Comic Con returns this year. The event is scheduled to take place on April 11 and 12 at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, bringing cheer to the city’s growing community of comics, cosplay, anime and gaming enthusiasts.
Now in its 13th year, Comic Con has emerged as a major pop culture platform that connects creators and fans from across the country. Kolkata joined the Comic Con calendar for the first time last year, and the response was overwhelming, with thousands of visitors turning up to celebrate comics, anime and the art of storytelling.

Highlighting the city’s deep-rooted connection with stories and creativity, one of the organisers said, “Kolkata doesn't just enjoy pop culture, Kolkata lives in pop culture. From love, literature and art to cinema, comics and fandom-storytelling is part of the rhythm of daily life in this city. This is the only city where you can see a Bengali groom dressed as Spider-Man beside the ‘Bongpool’. Here, cosplay fits in naturally. Generation after generation has grown up with stories of ‘Abol Tabol’, ‘Feluda’ and ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’, and today that same imagination is embracing superheroes, anime, manga, gaming and global pop culture with equal rhythm.”
At Kolkata Comic Con, visitors will have the chance to explore their favourite comics, discover new anime and manga titles, and pick up exclusive merchandise, making it a must-visit event for pop culture lovers in the city.
