Emmy nominated sci-fi classic Stargate SG-1 is set to return to Netflix

The recipient of eight Emmy nominations, Stargate SG-1 is a science fiction series with a perfect patchwork of ancient mythology, inventive world building and character driven storytelling. The show is set to return to Netflix on February 15 2026, reuniting and joining the heart pieces of science fiction lovers after a three-year break, bringing back the magic that made it iconic.

Legacy of 10 seasons

Over its 10 seasons and 214 episodes, Stargate SG-1 originally aired from 1997 to 2007, scoring solid ratings in Europe, Australia, and beyond. During its initial run it received eight Emmy nominations and served viewers for 20 years. The show’s unique formula a blend of military science fiction, historical and mythological details and in-depth character sketches, became its USP, setting it apart from typical programs. This formula was brought to life so effectively that the series is still studied and appreciated today, rather than fading into time. Even over the years, its cinematographic quality and consistent storytelling remained a highlight.

New licensing deal

The Stargate franchise with Amazon and MGM Studios, has successfully settled a new licensing agreement with Netflix. The deal aligns with Amazon’s plan to launch new Stargate series while making the classic series available to both longtime fans and a new generation of viewers.

The series follows Colonel Jack O’Neill and his elite team as they protect Earth from extraterrestrial threats, packed with excitement and adrenaline. Fans, who have been checking in since its departure in December 2022, can finally rejoice viewers in the US and several other countries will have access to all 10 seasons and 214 episodes, as the entire series returns after three long years, bringing its thrilling adventures and charm back to screens once again.
