The year is about to come to an end. The last festival of the year is just a few hours away. Everyone is finally getting the break they had been waiting for the entire year. Some were just waiting for some free time to relax, while some were looking forward to enjoying Christmas with the family and friends. No matter what the plan is, a well-prepped drink can bring some warmth into the holiday season.

Whether the plan is to host some friends or to simply enjoy the time at home, these five Christmas cocktails are easy to make and perfectly suited for the festive mood.

Five quick cocktails to try this Christmas

1. Mulled Wine

This is the entire Christmas in a glass. Prepared with gently heated Red wine with cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, orange slices and a touch of sugar. It is warm, aromatic and the ideal drink for a cold evening. The key to preparing the perfect mulled wine is to heat it slowly and never let it reach the boiling point.

2. Eggnog

A classic that never goes out of style and a must-have drink in the winter. Made with milk, cream, sugar and egg yolks, often spiked with rum, bourbon or brandy, in the end, eggnog is topped with some Nutmeg. Rich, creamy and unapologetically festive.

3. Cranberry Margarita

This one adds a holiday twist to a familiar favourite. Every sip of this drink is a perfectly balanced blast of sweetness and tanginess on the taste buds. Made with tequila, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, and triple sec, this is a perfect drink to enjoy in the evening. A sugared rim makes it even more celebratory.

4. Hot Toddy

Simple, soothing and one of the best drinks for the entire winter season. It consists of hot water, honey, lemon juice and whiskey to form the base. Light, comforting and works just as well at a Christmas gathering as it does during a quiet night in.

5. Peppermint Martini

If Christmas had a dessert cocktail, this would be it. When vodka, crème de cacao and peppermint schnapps come together, they create this smooth, minty drink. Garnishing it with crushed candy cane gives the drink its ultimate form, capable of giving the unmistakable holiday feel.

The best part about these drinks is that none of these cocktails require fancy equipment or hard-to-find ingredients. They are familiar, comforting and festive just like Christmas should be.
