Netflix has released the trailer for Bridgerton Season 4, marking five years since the series first premiered. The new season, which arrives in two parts, shifts the spotlight to Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, as he steps into the centre of the Regency-era romance.

According to Netflix, Season 4 will be released in two instalments. Part 1 premieres on January 29, while Part 2 arrives on February 26, continuing the platform’s recent split-season format for its flagship series.

The trailer offers the first look at Benedict’s journey after the love stories of his siblings Daphne, Anthony and Colin unfolded across earlier seasons. Long portrayed as the free-spirited and artistic Bridgerton brother, Benedict now finds himself drawn into a romance that challenges both his identity and his place in society.

A masquerade ball, a mystery woman and a missing glove

Benedict's meeting with Yerin Ha's character, Sophie Baek, is at the focal point of the season. Benedict first encounters a disguised figure known simply as the "Lady in Silver" at Violet Bridgerton's yearly masquerade event. The encounter creates an immediate bond, but Sophie vanishes before disclosing her identity, leaving Benedict with only a glove as a hint.

The trailer introduces Sophie as a young woman living under the strict control of her stepmother, Lady Araminta, played by Katie Leung. Though employed as a maid, Sophie secretly attends the masquerade, setting in motion a Cinderella-inspired storyline. After the ball, fate brings her back into Benedict’s orbit when she begins working in the Bridgerton household — though he fails to recognise her without her mask.

The footage hints at the emotional tension to come, raising questions about whether Benedict will uncover Sophie’s true identity and how their relationship will survive the rigid class boundaries of Regency London.

The trailer was released online with the line, “True love wears no mask,” underscoring the season’s central theme.

Season 4 also sees the return of several familiar faces, including Claudia Jessie, Hannah Dodd, Luke Newton, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley. Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei join the cast as Sophie’s stepsisters.

The season is adapted from Bridgerton by Julia Quinn, continuing the show’s tradition of reworking the novels for screen while expanding on character arcs.
