Google quietly rolled out Disco, an experimental browser experience developed under Google Labs in December 2025. Unlike a regular browser, Disco is built around how people actually use the web while working on a task. It is powered by Gemini 3, Google’s latest AI model, which can understand what a user is doing by looking at open tabs and ongoing conversations.

Key features of Disco

The key feature inside Disco is called GenTabs, short for “generated tabs”. Instead of showing a long list of links, GenTabs can turn multiple web pages into a single, interactive workspace. For example, if someone is planning a trip or collecting research, Disco can organise relevant information into a simple app-like layout, without the user writing any code. All the information shown still links back to its original websites, keeping the sources clear.

Disco is built on Google's Chromium engine, the exact open-source foundation Chrome browser uses. At present, the program is compatible with macOS. Google describes Disco as a research experiment aimed at testing new ways to explore and organise information on the web using AI.

Google Disco to help organise apps

Powered by Google Labs' Gemini 3, Disco's GenTab feature can create customised apps within specific tabs based on the user's search needs. Which can later be used within the Disco browser during related tasks. As an experimental browser, Google has not made it publicly available for everyone and has an invitation-based waitlist.

Once inside the Disco browser, users can begin by searching for any topic, just as they would in any other browser. This could be anything from travel planning to research on a specific subject.

On the left side of the browser, Disco provides an AI chat section. After completing the search, Users can select the option labelled “Open all links” from this panel.

Next, they need to click on the option that reads, enables GenTabs. This will gather all related links and convert them into a single, app-like workspace within a tab.

Using the same chat interface, you can structure and refine the GenTab. This organised layout can be reused later for similar tasks, reducing the need to repeat searches.

The Silicon Valley search giant has not shared any timelines regarding making the features of Disco widely available for everyone and keeping it firmly in the experimental phase for now.
