The 98th Academy Awards ceremony concluded at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the movie One Battle After Another was announced as the biggest winner of the night, winning a total of six awards including Best Picture.
The movie One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, entered the ceremony with a total of 13 nominations and bagged awards in all the major categories. Paul Thomas Anderson also received the award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, which was the first Oscar of his career.

In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan received the award for Best Actor for Sinners, while Jessie Buckley received the award for Best Actress for Hamnet, becoming the first Irish actor to have received the award in that category. In the supporting acting categories, Sean Penn received the award for Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan received the award for Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.
Strong showing for Sinners and Frankenstein
Beyond the top prizes, several films collected multiple awards across technical and creative categories.
Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, won Best Original Screenplay and two technical awards, including Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw and Best Original Score for composer Ludwig Göransson. Meanwhile, Frankenstein dominated several craft categories, winning Best Production Design, Best Costume Design for Kate Hawley, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Other notable wins included Best Sound for F1 and Best Visual Effects for Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Animation, music and documentary winners
In the animation categories, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature, while “Golden” from the same film secured Best Original Song. The Best Animated Short Film award went to The Girl Who Cried Pearls.
In documentary categories, Mr Nobody Against Putin won Best Documentary Feature, while All the Empty Rooms won Best Documentary Short Film.
The award for Best International Feature Film went to the Norwegian drama Sentimental Value, marking the first time a film from Norway has won in the category. The Best Live Action Short Film prize was shared by The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva.
