The trailer of the Bengali film 'Khancha' is out and has already sparked interest among viewers. Directed by Anirban Chakraborty, the film marks Dr. Prabir Bhowmik's next feature and is produced by Swabhumi Entertainment. The banner has returned with a gripping story that blends suspense, action, and emotion. 'Khancha' will release in theatres on February 6, 2026.
Set in the quiet-looking village of Tiaban, the film uncovers a long-running human trafficking network hidden behind everyday life. Popular YouTuber Mrinmoy Das, known as 'Cinebap', makes his big-screen debut as Kamalesh, a man seeking justice for his sister. Rajatava Dutta stars as the feared Mama, with Kanchana Maitra playing Mami. Mir appears as a powerful minister named Mahato, while Pratyusha Pal plays Radhika. The ensemble also includes Sonali Chowdhury, Anindya Pulak Banerjee, and Iman Chakraborty in key supporting roles.
Cast and crew reflect on the journey behind 'Khancha'
Making his cinema debut as Kamalesh, Mrinmoy Das described the shoot as intense but fulfilling. "Our shooting experience was hectic and frenetic, though thoroughly enjoyable," he said, recalling work across Bankura and Kalimpong. Highlighting the scale achieved despite limitations, he added, "What we didn't have as big budget outlays, we made it up by giving our heart and soul to this film," expressing confidence that the effort would connect with audiences.
Director Anirban Chakraborty said the demanding outdoor shoots only strengthened the team spirit. "We shot in Bankura in peak blazing summer and in Kalimpong in the freezing winter, but no one complained for a single time," he said. Praising his lead actor, Chakraborty noted, "His transformation was the toughest journey," calling Mrinmoy's dedication and perseverance central to the film's impact.
Lead actress Pratyusha Pal said watching the trailer brought back memories of the long journey behind the film. "Watching the trailer makes me extremely emotional," she said, calling the project deeply personal. Describing the atmosphere on set, she added, "This film is very close to my heart. Every frame carries our hard work and emotions," and expressed hope that audiences would connect with the story.
