From Chris Gayle’s 175 to Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers show, from towering sixes to low-scoring thrillers, while it’s a run fest or MS Dhoni’s incredible finishes, Chinnaswami Stadium remained one of the best venues in India until a stampede changed everything. Virat Kohli and company won the IPL for the first time, and the whole of Karnataka turned red as their favourite team, RCB, won the finals, defeating the Punjab Kings. After that, the team management organised a trophy show in the Chinnaswami Stadium, where overcrowding led to a stampede, which took the lives of eleven people and injured 56 people.
After this Karnataka Government took the matter seriously, and since then, the chinnaswami stadium not heard the sound of the crowd.
