US President Donald Trump is set to make his first appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 during the tournament's final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Despite receiving the first ceremonial World Cup ticket from FIFA President Donald Trump before the tournament began, Trump has not attended any matches so far, sparking discussions among fans and observers.
With more than half of the group stage already completed, questions had emerged over the absence of the president of one of the host nations. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has now confirmed that Trump will be present for the tournament's biggest match and will play a prominent role in the post-match ceremony.
Tradition to change at the World Cup final
Infantino revealed that he and Trump will jointly present the trophy after the final. Traditionally, the FIFA president hands over the World Cup trophy to the winning captain. However, this year's ceremony is expected to be different, with Trump taking part in the presentation to the champion team.
