Delhi Police arrest around 100, seize illegal firearms during ‘Operation Aaghat 3.0’- what else?

Delhi Police arrested around 100 people and seized 20 unlicensed pistols during a major crackdown under ‘Operation Aaghat 3.0’.

Delhi Police conducted "Operation Aaghat 3.0" in the South-East district to deal with street crime and criminal activities. This investigation was conducted before the New Year festival to keep locals and tourists safe. During the operation, police increased patrolling, vehicle inspection and night surveillance to prevent criminal activities and mainly focused on public safety.

About Operation Aaghat 3.0

For the operation, more than 600 police officers were set up throughout the South-East district. The media was informed by Southern Range Joint CP SK Jain that the main focus is on Street crimes and illegal activities, including drugs, liquor, and gambling.

According to the police sources, over the past few months, there have been fewer reports of street crime in the area, only because of the night surveillance, vehicle inspection and proper investigations.

During the operation, over 331 people were arrested under the Public Gambling Act, NDPS Act, and Delhi Excise Act. Safety steps resulted in the arrest of another 504 people. From within four were confirmed offenders, five auto-lifters and 116 known criminals. Also, 1,306 individuals have been charged under the Delhi Police Act for several crimes.

Confiscated items by Delhi police

Along with 331 people under the Delhi Excise Act, NDPS Act, and the Public Gambling Act, 504, 1,306, 116 people for several crimes, criminals, Delhi Police also seized 21 country-made unlicensed pistols, 20 live cartridges and 27 knives.

Apart from the drugs, illegal liquor Delhi Police recovered 6.01 kg of ganja and ₹2.36 lakh from certified gamblers and 12,258 quarters of illegal liquor.

Taken over, six two-wheelers, one four-wheeler and 310 mobile phones. According to the police, 231 two-wheelers were also seized for violations.
