Missing complaint filed in November
As per the report by PTI, the police said that Ruby had complained of a missing person on November 18, saying that her husband, Rahul (38 years), had failed to come back home. Based on this complaint, the police initiated preliminary searches, although there was no immediate progress.
Close to a month later, on December 15, a mutilated body was found in a drain near the Eidgah area by the police. The body was found without the head, hands, and legs.
"The body was taken into custody, and a post-mortem was conducted," Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi added, "the forensic team carried out a detailed examination, and DNA samples were collected." During the examination, the name “Rahul” was found to be inscribed on the body.
The report further stated that police analysed missing person complaints from other police stations in the area, and a technical analysis of Rahul’s mobile was conducted.
As per the SP, the mobile had been turned off since November 18, the date of the missing person complaint. The police started suspecting involvement from Ruby as they continued with their investigations.
Accused allegedly confessed to murder
Ruby reportedly made confessions to the police that she and her boyfriend killed her husband after Rahul discovered the illegal relationship between Ruby and her boyfriend.
"The accused told police that they attacked Rahul with an iron rod and an iron pestle, killing him on the spot,” Bishnoi said.
The police added that one of the body parts was dumped inside the drain from which it was later retrieved, and the rest were taken to Rajghat and dumped inside the Ganga River.
