A late-night operation in South Delhi led to the arrest of two foreign nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking, with police recovering a significant quantity of narcotics from their possession. The arrests were made in the Maidan Garhi area following specific intelligence inputs about a planned drug supply.
According to The Times of India, the tip-off was received on April 27, indicating that two individuals would arrive in the locality to deliver banned substances. A team was deployed to the identified spot and kept watch for suspicious movement before moving in to intercept the suspects.
Interception and recovery
The two men were spotted around 10.30 pm riding a scooter with a Haryana registration number. Police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search, which led to the recovery of 102 grams of cocaine, categorised as a commercial quantity under the law. In addition, officers seized 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone, which falls under the intermediate quantity category.
The seizure is considered significant given the classification of cocaine as a commercial quantity, which attracts stricter legal provisions under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Identity and background of accused
The accused have been identified as Chijioke Wisdom, 26, from Lagos, and Chiqozie, 43, from Owerri in Nigeria’s Imo State. Police said both individuals were residing in India without valid visas at the time of their arrest.
Preliminary checks revealed that Wisdom had been previously booked under the NDPS Act in a 2025 case registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station. Chiqozie was also found to have a past criminal record linked to an attempted murder case from 2014 registered at Dabri Mor police station.
