Three members of a family were killed after a speeding Audi car rammed into their motorcycle from behind in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Rewa superintendent of police Shailendra Chauhan, the family was travelling to Chirhula Nath Temple to deliver a wedding invitation card when the accident occurred near Koshtha village on the Rewa–Raipur road. The deceased has been identified as Bhagwat Vishwakarma, his son Shivam Vishwakarma, and another family member. They are all residents of Koshtha village.

As per reports, Chauhan shares, “As the motorcyclists attempted to cross the road or take a turn, the Audi coming from behind at high speed rammed into them. The impact was so severe that all three riders were thrown onto the road.”
Panic among eyewitnesses
The driver of the Audi fled the scene despite attempts by commuters to stop him. Eyewitnesses claimed the car was travelling at over 150 km per hour. Eyewitnesses also mentioned that panic gripped the whole area, among them, after the collision, with locals rushing to the spot and alerting the police. The victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared all three brought dead.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and seized the Audi. Efforts are underway to identify the owner of the vehicle. An FIR has been registered under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
