The autopsy report of Deepika Nagar (24), who allegedly died after jumping from the terrace of her in-laws’ house in Greater Noida on Sunday, has revealed several grave injuries across her body. According to sources, the findings include both external wounds and internal damage, raising further questions in the case.

As per a report by Indian Express, the post-mortem notes multiple contusions on her face, elbows, forearm, thigh, chest and abdomen. A swelling measuring around 12 cm by 9 cm was observed on the right side of her face. There were also circular injury marks around her right hand and a large bluish contusion above the pelvic region.

Internal injuries and medical findings

Doctors conducting the autopsy found a blood clot in the middle and left portions of the brain. The spleen was ruptured, and bleeding was detected in different parts of the body. The report also mentions that the chambers of the heart were empty, while the kidney appeared pale.

Other injuries include swelling in the left elbow joint, a wound on the left forearm, a bone-deep injury on the left knee, and abrasion marks on the left side of the chest and abdomen. A contusion measuring about 38 cm by 14 cm was noted on the right thigh. Viscera samples have been preserved for further chemical examination.

“This possibly implies she was being harassed,” the Indian Express quoted a police offiicer as saying, adding that some of the injuries appear to be ante-mortem, meaning they occurred before death. However, officials also indicated that several injuries are consistent with a fall.

Dowry harassment allegations and arrests

Deepika’s family has accused her in-laws of harassment linked to dowry demands. Police confirmed that her husband and father-in-law have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to trace other accused individuals.
