What happened?
The deceased has been identified as Sanjukumar Hosamani. The incident took place near the Talamdagi Bridge in Karnataka’s Bidar district.
According to media reports, a kite with Chinese manjha had fallen across the road. The string was hanging at such a height that it aligned with the throat level of a person riding a motorcycle. As Sanjukumar passed through the stretch, the manjha cut straight into his throat.
Severe bleeding began immediately, causing him to lose control and fall off his bike. A video of the incident has since gone viral, showing Sanjukumar lying on the ground in a blood-soaked condition while attempting to make a phone call. All efforts failed
At the time of the incident, a passerby noticed Sanjukumar lying injured on the road and stopped to help. He attempted to stop the bleeding using a piece of cloth.
Local residents said an ambulance was called, but alleged that Sanjukumar died before it could arrive. Relatives later told the media that his life could have been saved if medical assistance had reached him on time.
Allegations have been raised against the local administration over the delay. A case has been registered at the local police station in connection with the incident.
