How far can a fan go for their favourite player? Some might travel hundreds of kilometres to see their beloved cricketer up close. Others may even break the law and risk their lives. But spending lakhs of rupees on a mobile cover for a favourite player? This is exactly what a Virat Kohli supporter has done. This picture was captured before the second match in Rajkot.

Gold mobile cover made for Virat Kohli
India and New Zealand are playing the second match at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. After winning the first match, India took the field with momentum in the second match as well. Virat Kohli, who has been at the centre of attention, once again drew crowds despite not scoring a big knock in the match.
Even so, many spectators gathered just to catch a glimpse of him. Among them was Ankit Patel, who spent ₹15 lakh to create a gold cover for an iPhone with Virat Kohli’s face engraved on it.
Before the match, Ankit showed the mobile cover to journalists. The cover was kept inside a box, which he opened and held in front of the camera. The back of the cover features Virat Kohli’s face engraved along with a bat bearing the MRF logo. Ankit has said that he wants to gift the cover to Virat Kohli. He has also made a gold bracelet in Virat’s name.

Security concerns around the costly gift
Along with this act of admiration, security concerns have also increased. Until now, information about the ₹15 lakh mobile cover was known only to a select few people. Now that it has reached audiences across the country, Ankit may have to arrange separate security for the expensive item.
However, it is not yet known whether Virat Kohli, for whom all this has been done, is aware of Ankit Patel’s gesture.
