At least ten schools across Chandigarh and neighbouring Mohali received bomb threat calls on Tuesday, prompting immediate security measures. Classes for the day were suspended immediately.
Reportedly, the school management immediately notified the police once the calls were made. On the other hand, the students were sent home as a precautionary measure. In one of the schools, parents were informed through an urgent message that classes were being suspended due to a reported security concern.
“The safety of our students, staff, and families is our highest priority, and this decision was made out of an abundance of caution,” the message read. The school added that buses, which had already begun their routes, were being turned back. Parents were requested to collect their children from designated stops.

Principals in Delhi said that similar threats over the past year have largely turned out to be hoaxes. However, they said safety procedures have to be stringently implemented on every occasion to ensure student and staff safety.
In October last year, over 200 schools in Delhi faced bomb threats through emails in just one day, while overall in 2024, there were more than 500 bomb threats.
