A large candlelight march was held in Pimpri-Chinchwad as family members, friends and local residents gathered to pay tribute to Ketan Agrawal, who was allegedly murdered by his fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18. The protesters carried candles and placards reading "Justice for Ketan Agrawal" while demanding strict punishment for the accused.

Parents demand death sentence

Ketan's mother, Rakhi Agrawal, made an emotional appeal for speedy justice and sought the death penalty for both accused.

"I want justice for Ketan, and I want the death penalty for Siya. I am a mother and Siya has a mother too, yet, I want the death penalty for Siya and for Chetan. I want justice for my son," Rakhi Agrawal said.

His father, Vishal Agrawal, said the family is still struggling to understand why his son was allegedly targeted.

"My 26-year-old son was killed for no apparent reason. We have not found out any reason why he was killed. My child was not at fault in any way. I had set out to arrange his marriage and bring a daughter-in-law into the family. I never imagined I would lose my child instead," he said.

Appealing for public support, he added, "I appeal to everyone to ensure he gets justice and that his killers gets death sentence... I hope you will continue to stand by me until the accused are punished."

Investigation continues

The investigation remains underway. On Friday, police questioned Siya Goyal's parents, Pravin Goyal and Pooja Goyal, along with her brother, Sahil Goyal, at the Lonavala police station. According to PTI, Sahil was questioned for nearly 10 hours, with investigators focusing on Siya's relationship with Chetan Chaudhary.

Siya Goyal is currently in seven-day police custody until June 29.

The Maharashtra government has approved a fast-track court for the case and appointed senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as the Special Public Prosecutor. Earlier, Vishal Agrawal met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune, who assured the family that the case would be fast-tracked and strict action would be taken against the accused.

Police have alleged that Siya Goyal, 20, and Chetan Chaudhary, 22, pushed Ketan Agrawal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort because Siya did not want to marry him and was allegedly in a relationship with Chetan for more than a year.
