Employees were informed via email about organisational changes leading to role redundancies. "Because of these changes, a decision has been taken to streamline the operations, and as a result, unfortunately, the position you currently hold will become redundant", news agency PTI reported.
India workforce significantly affected
Reports indicate that Oracle has roughly 30,000 employees in India, including those impacted by the layoffs. Globally, the company had around 1,62,000 full-time employees as of May 2025. Oracle has declined to comment on the development.
The scale of layoffs in India has raised concerns, particularly as another round of job cuts is reportedly being considered within a month.
Severance package details
According to reports, affected employees in India have been offered 15 days' salary for each completed year of service. The package also includes one month of unpaid wages till the termination date, leave encashment, gratuity based on eligibility, and pay for a one-month notice period.
In addition, Oracle has reportedly offered a two-month salary as a top-up. However, only employees who voluntarily and amicably resign are said to be eligible for the severance package.
