The incident of America's abduction and arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has shaken the entire world. Discussions have begun about the new 'American imperialism'. India's Ministry of External Affairs has expressed its views on ensuring that the peace of the Venezuelan people is not disrupted in any way. Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is reported that the two leaders discussed bilateral relations.
After the phone conversation with Netanyahu, Modi wrote on his X handle, "Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead."
The Prime Minister stated that the two leaders discussed not only New Year greetings but also the regional situation and combating terrorism. He wrote on his X handle, "We also exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination."
Notably, Benjamin Netanyahu last visited India for six days in 2018. He was scheduled to visit India again in November 2025, but the visit was cancelled due to multiple reasons. Netanyahu’s office has since confirmed that discussions are ongoing to reschedule the India visit after the proposed December visit was postponed.
