His 100 comes up in just 47 deliveries which is the fastest of his career and also the fastest by any batsman for Delhi Capitals, the modern-day Mr Dependable who always comes handy for his team, joined the century fest in the IPL 2026. Rahul along with Nitish Rana who hammered 91 runs formed a 220-run partnership which is the second-highest partnership in IPL. They broke the record of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers ’ 215-run partnership which came in 2015 against the Mumbai Indians.
The KL Rahul show
This afternoon in Arun Jaitley Stadium, KL Rahul rewinded the time as he played like the early days of his career, the boy from Karnataka, who was known for his outstanding power-hitting abilities and counted as one of the best T20I batters of India lost himself somewhere in the crowd. Injuries and captaincy pressure added problems for him. Despite losing his place from the shortest format, he never looked back, from the 2023 World Cup he finally started expressing himself and became the dependable one for the Indian test and one-day side.

Rahul who once smashed the fastest ever fifty of IPL and century on his T20I debut, smashed the third 150-plus individual run in IPL against the team where he used to be the leader once. After McCallum’s 158 and Chris Gayle’s 175 when history books will be written on IPL, one page will be dedicated to this innings. His innings of 152 runs of 62 balls was decorated brightly with 16 fours and 9 sixes, the strike rate of 226.87 tells a lot.
Few rumours were coming that Rahul might lose his place from the ODI team but the boy who always chased challenges, showed what redemption really looks like. Becoming the third-highest individual run scorer of IPL, KL Rahul really proved the lines from Dhurandhar, “ ghayal hoon, isliye ghatak hoon” which means,I am dangerous because I am wounded.
Delhi Capitals posted a brutal 264 runs on the board
It was a nightmare outing for the PBKS bowlers as every one of them leaked 40+ runs in a high-scoring innings of 264/2 in 20 overs (CRR 13.2). Arshdeep Singh gave away 49 in 4 overs (ER 12.2) while Xavier Bartlett was the most expensive, conceding 69 in his 4 overs (ER 17.2). Marco Jansen (45/0, ER 11.2) and Yuzvendra Chahal (42/0, ER 10.5) couldn’t find breakthroughs, while Vijaykumar Vyshak went for 48 in just 3 overs (ER 16). Even Marcus Stoinis wasn’t spared, conceding 11 in his lone over. It was sheer batting domination with no respite for the bowlers.
