A heritage stay surrounded by tea gardens and forested hills

Phagu is one of the most popular tea estates in Dooars. Green tea gardens spread across the mountain slopes. You can reach Phagu by taking the Chalsa route from New Mal Junction. The Chel River flows beside Lower Phagu. On one side of Phagu is Patharjhora and on the other side are the tea gardens of Samsing. Wherever you look, there's only green. Who wouldn't love to spend a holiday amidst this natural beauty? And here you can spend the night in a British bungalow.

Phagu's popularity is due to its bungalows. There's a nearly 100-year-old British bungalow in the middle of the tea garden. Tourists can also spend the night here. The cost per night at this heritage bungalow is about 4,000 rupees. The experience of spending the night in such a place in the lap of mountains, amidst tea gardens, is completely different.

Besides staying overnight at the British bungalow, you can also tour the tea gardens. You can visit Phagu's tea garden and factory. You can also pluck tea leaves with your own hands here. There's also an opportunity for tea tasting. Along with the tea gardens, you can also go on a jungle safari at Gorumara. Gorumara forest is very close to Phagu. Besides this, you can visit Kalimpong from here. Lava and Rishop are very close from here. All in all, it can be a 3-4 day North Bengal trip.

How to go and where to stay?

The distance from Malbazar to Phagu Tea Estate is about 20 kilometers. To go there, get off at New Mal Junction. From there, Phagu is just half an hour's journey to Lower Phagu. And when you come to Phagu, it's better to spend the night at the British bungalow here. Besides this, homestay facilities are also available in the surrounding areas.
