Organic food is now in highest demand. From lentils and pulses to vegetables and fruits, people are looking for everything grown through organic methods. Food items are being sold with 'organic' labels from supermarkets to quick-commerce sites.
Their prices are also relatively higher. But does 'organic' written on the packet really mean it's genuine? Or is this just a marketing strategy for business? Don't worry. There are ways to verify this. The food quality regulatory body FSSAI has shared techniques to identify genuine 'organic' products. What should you do? Here's the list.
Find the logo to identify genuine from fake

Don't buy products just by seeing the 'organic' label. Rather, if 'organic' is written, the 'Jaivik Bharat' logo should also be there. This is an official mark approved by the Government of India. This shows that the product is completely produced through organic processes. So instead of looking at the 'organic' label, look for the 'Jaivik Bharat' or 'India Organic' logo.

Verify the license number

Organic product packets must have a valid FSSAI license number. Check whether that number is there when buying. If it's not there, then don't buy the product. It's better not to buy food items that have 'organic' written but no license number.
Check the accreditation number

Every organic product packet has a specific accreditation or certification number. This is provided by an authorized organization. This number proves that the product is made entirely through organic processes from cultivation to packaging. If the certifying body or its number is not on the packet, then don't buy it.
Don't judge only by price

Higher price doesn't necessarily mean the item is genuine. In many cases, fake products are sold at high prices with good packaging. Don't fall into that trap. Instead of relying on price, verify the label and certification.

Pay attention to packaging

It's important to stay alert and conscious while shopping. Good packaging doesn't mean it contains genuine products. It's better not to buy products based on advertising appeal. Rather, products should be bought after verifying the 'Jaivik Bharat' logo, license number and accreditation number.
