Want a delicious starter for New Year's evening? Make prawn tempura

Planning a New Year house party? Skip regular fried prawns and try this crispy prawn tempura recipe. Easy to make at home, this light starter pairs perfectly with a quick soy-based dipping sauce.

The New Year celebration party will begin in the evening. Preparations are in full swing. The food and drink arrangements are almost complete. However, if something delicious can be made at home for starters, it wouldn't be bad. Golden fried prawns are eaten quite often, so if you want to try a different kind of prawn dish this year, you can make prawn tempura. Here's the recipe.

What do you need?

Prawns with tail: 500 grams

All-purpose flour: 1 cup

Cornflour: 1 cup

Baking soda: a pinch

Salt: as needed

Black pepper: 1 teaspoon

Eggs: 2

Brown sugar: half teaspoon

Garlic: 5-6 cloves

Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons

Lemon: 1

Vinegar: 1 teaspoon

Spring onion: half handful

White oil: 1 cup

How to make it?

Wash the prawns thoroughly, clean them and drain the water.

Now marinate them with a little minced garlic and lemon juice and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix all-purpose flour, cornflour, baking soda, eggs, salt and black pepper powder well. Add ice-cold water to this and prepare a batter.

Heat white oil in a wok. Dip the marinated prawns one by one in the batter and drop them in the oil.

When the prawns turn reddish golden, strain them out of the oil. You can sprinkle some spring onion on top.

Now you need a special kind of sauce to eat the prawn tempura. You can easily make that too.

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar and finely chopped ginger well. That's it, the sauce is ready.

Serve hot prawn tempura with this special chutney.
